April is turning out to be quite the month for us here at Junction Education.

Last week we were named as finalists in three major industry competitions:

  1. The Emerging Technologies for Learning / Sloan Consortium Annual Conference
  2. The Milken-Penn GSE Education Business Plan Competition
  3. The SIIA Innovation Incubator Program

In addition to being recognized by these organizations, we’ve been busy putting the finishing touches on our first generation course builder, which will be officially rolled out June 1. In the meantime, we wanted to give everyone a preview of what we’ve been working on.

MEET JUNCTION AUTHOR

This image shows the navigation bar on the left and the EDIT MODE button highlighted for selection.

This first generation of Junction Author will allow educators and instructional designers to take one of our existing courses and modify it down to the letter. If you wanted to re-write the learning objectives, you can do that. Do you love exclamation points? Go crazy! Do you really hate a word used in the course? Change it. Want to change the order of the lessons to match your syllabus? Go for it. Want to add a new page? Swap out a video? Include your notes? You have complete control to build your course your way.

We know that one of the most important things for instructors and instructional designers is the ability to quickly and easily modify courses to work for your institution. Author incorporates your changes in REAL TIME. For instance, if you are teaching Economics OPEC has a meeting raising the per barrel cost of oil by 20% you can include it in your course the same day. It’s pretty awesome.

Beyond that, it allows you to schedule when your lessons are available to your students. You can save them as drafts and set due dates using the simple calendar function.

Most importantly, the interface is clean and uncluttered. Unlike some other platforms, users will not require full-day training sessions. It was designed to be intuitive and simple so you can just pick it up and go.
